Digital Transition
(Updated February 2009)
Mark your calendar for June 12, 2009. That's the day that all full-power television stations will stop broadcasting in analog and switch to all-digital transmissions in accordance with federal law. The government is calling this the Digital Transition (DTV).
If you currently use antennas or rabbit ears: Beginning June 12, 2009 you won't be able to receive broadcast programming unless your TV is digital-ready (find out by checking your owner's manual to see if your set is "digital-ready"). If it is not, you have three options:
- Buy a new, digital-ready TV
- Buy a digital-to-analog converter box (the government has made some coupons available to help with the cost).
- Sign up for Digital Cable service from Windjammer Communications.
If you currently have Basic Cable service: You don't have to do a thing. All of your cable-connected televisions will continue to bring you your favorite chanels after the Digital Transition. As a Basic Cable customer, you will not have to re-subscribe to Windjammer's Digital Cable service, but you may want to upgrade to get the full lineup of channels available to Digital Cable subscribers. Find out more.
If you are not a Windjammer subscriber: Satellite TV customers will continue to receive programming after the Digital Transition. Windjammer customers enjoy many benefits not available to you, so we'd love to tempt you with some of our great products & services.
