Windjammer wants your cable experience to be smooth sailing, but occasionally, you may experience reception problems. Sometimes there's a quick fix that you can do yourself.
Picture Problems
Before you call Windjammer with a picture problem, we suggest going throught this short list of easy-to-solve problems:
- Is everything connected properly, plugged in and turned on? It may sound elementary, but check your TV, VCR and converter box to make sure. Get easy-to-follow installation instructions for digital cable.
- Do you have a wall switch that controls power to your equipment? Check to make sure it's turned on.
- Check to see if other electrical equipment in the room is working properly.
- Make sure all the cable connections are tight.
- Check to confirm that your TV and/or VCR setting is on Channel 3.
- Make sure your TV or VCR is in its proper operating mode.
- Is there a power failure in the neighborhood? Also see if any neighborhood construction might have caused a problem.
- Are you experiencing the same problem on all or just one of the channels?
- Check any other TVs with cable connections to make sure they aren't experiencing the same problems.
Here are some common TV picture problems and their solutions:
- No picture
- Is the channel setting on both your converter/terminal and your TV set on Channel 3?
- Check the brightness/contrast control on your TV set to make sure it hasn't accidentally been turned down.
- Check your online and onscreen program guides to make sure your chosen channel is broadcasting at this time.
- Check to see if the channel puts up a "Channel Difficulties" announcement.
- Normal picture but no color, wavy lines or buzzing sound - Adjust the fine tuning on your TV set.
- Dark picture - Adjust the brightness or contrast controls on your TV set.
- Rolling picture - Adjust the vertical hold control on your TV set.
- Picture leaning to one side - Adjust the horizontal hold on your TV set.
- Shrinking picture
- A circuit in your TV set may be overloaded.
- The local electric company may have temporarily cut back your power.
- Networks appear on the wrong channel setting - if you have a terminal/converter box, make sure both your TV and VCR are both set to Channel 3.
- A vertical bar tracks through your picture - Call us at 888-495-2881 for help.

- Snowy picture and/or hissing sound - Call us at 888-495-2881 for help.
- Digital lines in your picture don't respond to fine tuning controls - Call us at 888-495-2881 for help.
- Can't tune in the channel you want - Make sure parental controls aren't blocking you.
- Remote isn't responding
- Your batteries may need to be replaced. Get information about how to change remote batteries.
- Make sure there's nothing obstructing a clear line-of-sight between your remote and the terminal/converter box.
Sound problems
Here are some common sound problems and possible solutions:
- No sound - Check the "Mute" button to make sure it hasn't accidentally turned off the sound.
- Buzzing sound - Adjust the fine tuning controls on your set.
- Noisy sound on one channel - Check your cable connection to make sure it is tight.
- Sound on only one stereo speaker - You may have a loose cable connection. Tighten it up and make sure that there are no damaged wires or plugs.
- Sound not coming in stereo - Turn up the volume on your terminal/converter until you see a "Best Stereo" message on your screen; then adjust the TV volume.

Digital Music Problems
- No sound
- Make sure your sound system is set up properly for digital audio.
- Check your sound system's volume level, input selector and tape monitor to make sure the settings are correct.
- Sound from only one speaker
- Make sure the balance control on your amplifier is set properly.
- Check that your balance control is set correctly between right/left speakers.
- Make sure your audio cables are connected properly and are connected to the correct L/R output jacks on both your terminal and your system's amplifier.
- No digital music screen visible on TV - While you may be able to hear Music Choice programming without turning on your TV, if you want to view the screens you must also have your TV set on.
